3700 Geary Boulevard showcases
the adaptive reuse of an historic brick building in San Francisco.
The building was originally built in the 1890's
as a cable car barn and power plant for the Geary Park & Ocean
Railway System. In the years since, it has seen various uses
including auto body manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing,
bakery, municipal bus garage, and most recently, as a car dealership.
The building totals some 70,000 sq.ft. on two levels.
Patson bought the building in 1994 and carried
out a complete refurbishment, including extensive structural
improvements to bring the structure up to modern earthquake
safety standards. The entire facility is leased to OfficeMax
Inc. on a long term basis.
3700 Geary Boulevard was developed
under a joint venture with London Merchant Securities and is
currently owned by VNO Patson Geary LP. |
